CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Call for Proposals

The Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Faculty Advisory Committee solicits proposals for presentations from USC faculty members who (1) actively use technology to enhance their courses, (2) teach blended or distance learning courses, (3) are developing distance learning courses/programs, or (4) are researching new or emerging instructional technologies. Proposals will not require formal papers.

Preference is given to proposals for sessions that:

Suggested topics for the presentations include:

Presentation Formats

Presenters should identify one of the following formats in their proposals:

Workshop Session

Presenters will teach their faculty colleagues how to use technologies that they use in their classes. The most interactive of the presentation formats, presenters will be given 1 hr 15 minutes and will include no more than 30 minutes of presentation with at least 45 minutes of hands-on experience. (Presentation and training may be interspersed during the session.)

Live Demonstration

During a live demonstration, presenters will immerse participants in technologies. An example of this type of presentation is demonstrating Internet2 for a live musical performance. Depending on the scope of the demonstration, presenters may be paired to share a 1 hr 15 minute session.

Moderated Panel

This panel presentation will include no more than 3 panelists and a moderator. Panels will have a full 1 hr 15 minute session that will include at least 30 minutes for audience discussion. (Note: One person should submit the proposal for a group presentation.)

Individual Presentation

Individual presenters provide an overview of their topic that includes best practices and lessons learned. Typically, individual presenters will be paired with one other presenter to share a 1 hr 15 minute session. Each presenter will give a 20 minute presentation with a 15 minute Q&A.

Poster Presentation

The posters will allow excellent opportunities to interact with participating faculty and staff, and are especially suited for new and experimental projects. Posters can be presented electronically or through traditional board and easel. High speed internet access and electrical outlets will be available. Poster presenters are encouraged to share presentation responsibilities during the six hour conference so that they can also participate in other sessions.

Selected presenters will be invited to host luncheon topic tables to facilitate discussion about their experiences using technology among conference participants.
